Black Swan and Energy Transition

Crisis, Jobs and Energy Transition.

5th edition

The rescue plans for the economy, formulated by the different levels of government and by financial institutions, need to provide instruments so that the jobs generated with the crisis have a good standard of quality.

This was one of the main messages that Samantha Smith, a director of the Just Transition Center of the International Trade Union Confederation, made in her participation in the Crisis, Jobs and Energy webinar, in the fifth edition of the series Black Swan and Energy Transition.

With the loss of 20% of investments in 2020, the energy sector will contribute to what has been called the “job apocalypse” – the reduction of approximately 300 million positions between April and June alone.

Samantha presented the concepts being discussed about the just transition to support the millions of unemployed.

The moderation was performed by Renata Belzunces, an economist and social scientist from DIEESE.
