The Interactive Decarbonization Platform (PID) as a Strategic Tool for Green Industrialization and Powershoring in the Global South
As global supply chains are being reshaped by climate policy, trade realignments, and geopolitical pressures, countries in the Global South face a critical opportunity to lead the next wave of industrial development based on clean, competitive, and abundant energy. This event presents Powershoring, a strategy focused on relocating energy-intensive manufacturing to countries with structural green energy advantages, positioning it as a pathway for both economic development and global decarbonization. By engaging the progressive climate and economic ecosystem, this panel will launch a major policy paper on Powershoring, co-authored by the Institute E+ (Brazil), the Johns Hopkins Net Zero Policy Lab, Jorge Arbache (UnB), and other international collaborators. The session will frame Powershoring as a concrete development strategy, not only for Brazil but for the Global South more broadly. The event will also feature the public presentation of the Interactive Decarbonization Platform (PID), a new digital tool developed by E+ in partnership with Johns Hopkins. The platform offers a map-based interface that integrates industrial and infrastructure data to support strategic planning of green industrial hubs. By enabling cross-analysis of energy, logistics, and investment variables, the PID supports decision-makers in identifying optimal locations and viable industrial opportunities in Brazil — across sectors such as EVs, low-carbon steel, green hydrogen, SAF, and critical minerals.

Collaborative Strategies for Trade Justice in Transition Mineral Supply Chains
The global shift towards a green economy relies heavily on transition minerals, often sourced from resource-rich nations in the Global South. However, there is a significant risk that the frameworks governing their extraction and trade will perpetuate existing inequalities and extractivist relationships. Producer countries are not just sites of extraction; they are decisive forces in shaping the energy transition, provided the global rules on trade, investment, and finance are rewritten. This workshop, held during London Climate Action Week, offers a crucial opportunity for NGOs to converge, share insights, and build collective strategies to ensure these supply chains are equitable, just, and contribute to sustainable development in producer countries.
